Frequently Asked Questions
What should I bring to class?
An open mind and heart! We have yoga mats for your use. You may want to bring a bottle of water for after class. Some like to bring a small towel.
What should I wear to class?
Wear comfortable clothing that allows for movement. Basic workout clothes are fine, you don’t need anything special. You may want to stay away from very baggy clothes as they can get in the way during class. Yoga is practiced on the mat with bare feet so there’s no need for special sneakers or shoes.
If I’m not flexible, can I still practice Yoga?
Yes! When many of us started, we couldn’t even touch our toes! Greater flexibility is a benefit of a regular Yoga practice.
If I have an injury or illness, can I safely practice Yoga?
Always check with your physician before attempting strenuous exercise. If you have an ok from your doctor, please let the instructor know about your condition. Yoga can be a great benefit to helping heal many injuries and reduce symptoms of some illnesses. Your practice can be modified to accommodate most situations.
What if I am pregnant?
Always check with your physician. Most times, if you were physically active before getting pregnant, you can continue and include Yoga with some modifications, although lying on your abdomen, twists, and inversions are not recommended. Another option you may want to consider is a Prenatal Yoga class.
What style of Yoga do you offer?
We offer classes in the tradition of Vinyasa. This style of Yoga is characterized by linking the poses with the breath in flowing movement. Please find our Class Description page on the website for more details.
Is Yoga a religion?
Yoga is not a religion. It is a science of movement and breath.
